Do you struggle to lose weight? Have you managed to lose weight only to have it all creep back on again? Having tried countless diets are you always looking to find the one that ‘works’? This constant cycle of weight loss and weight gain is difficult and frustrating and can leave you feeling helpless, unhappy and with very low self-esteem.

The focus of the programme is on mindset. Change your mind to change your body. Losing weight is more than eating less and moving more. It is a skill that you learn. After all, most people know how and what they should eat in order to lose weight. The difficult part is to stay motivated and stick with your chosen food plan. This 8-week programme will show you how you can achieve lasting weight loss by learning the skill of dieting.

You can do the 8-week MIND OVER BODY weightloss programme in the following ways

1 to 1 private sessions in my clinic in Old Bawn or Sandyford.

1 to 1 private sessions via Skype.

During the 8 weeks I will personally take you step by step through the programme which will help you change your habits, help you deal with triggers and cravings and stop that inner sabotaging voice that has stopped you in the past reaching your weight loss goals.

What did you take away from the programme

  • I just want to say this programme has really opened my eyes so much about my relationship with food and my relationship with myself.  For some reason setting out on this I thought oh great 8 weeks I’ll be good and I’ll drop 2 stone and life will be wonderful but it’s not that straightforward because I’ve so much to figure out that I didn’t realise when I started. I have been very stressed for the past 6 months+ because of work. Juggling a demanding full-time job and 3 small children is tricky and I wasn’t giving myself credit for that. All I could see is that I am overweight. I am a resilient person and look outwardly like I cope well with stress and to an extent I do but I feel now it has been manifesting itself in weight gain and I have been trapped in a vicious circle of overeating and giving myself a hard time. I’m very grateful for this programme because it has made me sit and think and write down what’s going on for me. I am naturally a happy person and I am very blessed with so much. I feel this programme could help me finally feel happy about my physical appearance after many years.

What is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) for weight loss?

Weight loss is complex, and research tells us that eating healthy and exercising is not enough to successfully lose weight and keep it off. We have deep-rooted emotional associations with eating and these have a huge impact on how and what we eat. Diet and weight loss programmes that focus only on food and exercise are missing a vital component – they do not look at getting your mindset right to keep you motivated and successful in the long term.

CBT provides you with a set of tools that will change the way you think and therefore the way you behave around food.  Changing behavior, in particular long-term, habitual patterns, takes practice and this programme will support you throughout to help you make those changes. The tools are for life and applying them consistently will enable you to maintain a healthy weight.

How does the MIND OVER BODY weightloss programme work?

The initial programme consists of 8 sessions lasting 50 minutes each. We meet at my clinic, or online via Skype/Zoom where I will coach you to change the way you behave and think about food. You will take control of your triggers and cravings and you will be able to master the skills of staying motivated and silencing that inner voice that sabotages your weight loss efforts.

During the 8 weeks you will:

  • walk away with an eating plan that will be sustainable for now and the future.
  • have the skillset to deal with triggers and cravings
  • be able to self-motivate long term
  • feel confident and in control about your eating
  • lose the desire to overeat
  • Have daily support via email with me

After you have completed the 8-week programme, you have the option to continue attending my weight loss clinic for 30-minute sessions at a time convenient to you.

This programme is for you if you have tried many diets before but found it difficult to stay motivated. After a few weeks you give up and gain most or all of the weight you lost back on. This programme will teach you how to stay motivated, deal with triggers and emotional eating and give you nutritional guidelines that will keep you full and stop cravings. The nutritional plan is full of delicious food as eating healthy does not need to be boring.

Most weight loss programmes focus on diet and exercise, but if you have tried to lose weight in the past, you know that your mind has to be in the right place in order to succeed. This is where the Mind over Body weight loss programme is different. You will be giving the skills to overcome emotional eating, dealing with triggers and cravings and to change your relationship with food forever.

You will have my support and encouragement every step of the way as you change the way you relate to food forever.

Part of my mission statement is to continually update my skills in light of expanding knowledge about human development and psychological well-being. It is important to me to keep abreast of relevant research in the area. In October 2018 I attended a 2 day workshop at the Beck Institute in Philadelphia where I updated my skill in CBT for weight loss with the most eminent experts in the field, Dr Judieth Beck. In this workshop I learned the latest evidence-based strategies aimed at modifying my clients’ thinking and behavior so they can make permanent changes in their eating and lose weight.

If you are part of a club or group, I can also come to you and deliver the programme in your location, either over 8 weeks, or tailor make the programme to suit your particular circumstances. Please get in touch for more details.
